Growing up in a poor country as a deaf child can be an overwhelming challenge; fewer educational resources means that these children are not given the proper tools to develop their potential and integrate fully into society.
As a mother, I understand that communicating with your children is essential to their future growth and that for deaf children, sign language is a critical means for them to develop their mental faculties and achieve their potential. Our Deaf Reach program in Pakistan is a great example of this, equipping young deaf children with the skills that will help them communicate with the world and secure future jobs.
Our upcoming Dignity Walk is about removing the barriers that prevent young children like the students at Deaf Reach from achieving their potential (Below is a brief video of our Deaf Reach school).
I also want to share that this year, as a member of the IDRF Board and Young Professionals Council, we are pleased to be a marketing partner for this year’s MAX Gala, a special event that recognizes the philanthropic achievements of Muslims in the community. April 15th is the deadline to nominate individuals or organizations for an award.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you on May 20, 2017, for our Dignity Walk.
